“Butter” is a great word because it kind of sounds like “better.” Which is fitting because butter does make everything better. In fact, it’s what makes potatoes better. That, and SPAM® Classic, which makes this buttery-tasting dish even better.
Ingredients
1 (340g) can SPAM® Classic, thinly sliced
3 tbsp all-purpose flour
3 tbsp butter or other fat
1/2 cup crisp buttered breadcrumbs
4 large potatoes, boiled and sliced
2 cups milk
1 tbsp fresh parsley, minced
Pepper, to taste
Salt, to taste
1 small onion, diced
Directions
Heat oven to 375°F/190°C.
In a saucepan, melt the butter, then add in flour, salt, and pepper.
Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, for 3 to 4 minutes.
Add the onion, parsley, and milk.
Stir until smooth, cooking until the sauce is thickened.
In a casserole, alternate layers of potato and SPAM® Classic.
Pour the white sauce over the top and sprinkle with breadcrumbs.
