Deep-Fried SPAM® Classic in Sweet Hawaiian Sauce

Ingredients

• 1 x 340g SPAM® Classic cubed
• 450mL vegetable oil for frying

• 80mL vinegar
• 1 tsp iodized fine salt
• 80g tomato ketchup
• 55g sugar
• 1 tbsp soy sauce
• 2 tbsp crushed sugar candy *can be replaced with 1 tbsp packed brown sugar
• 40g diced onions
• 90g diced bell peppers
• 55g pineapple chunks
• 1 tbsp cornstarch, dissolved in 2 tbsp of water

Directions

1. In a pan, fry SPAM® Classic in hot oil for 2-3 minutes or until crispy. Set aside.
2. In another pan, combine remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Simmer for 3-5 minutes.
3. Add cornstarch mixture and simmer for an additional minute or until mixture has thickened.
4. Toss in SPAM® and simmer for an additional minute. Serve.
